📈 Why does the brain filter out most of what it senses?

Almost everything reaching the cortex passes the thalamus first, and most of it is thrown away: that filter keeps ordinary experience manageable. Loosen it and activity turns broader and less predictable (the “entropic brain” idea). These are theories, not facts.
